US-based Peterson Construction has secured a $6.7m contract from the Clark County Commission for the upgradation of wastewater plant in the region.

As per the agreed terms, the company will upgrade and expand the Southwest Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant in Medway. This facility serves Clark County, along with areas of Miami, Greene and Montgomery counties.

Scope of the contract also includes a 20-year loan of around $1.5m from the Ohio Public Works Commission. This loan amount will be used to help the facility to meet new pollutant control standards.

Commenting on the deal, Clark County Commissioner John Detrick said that Peterson Construction has expertise in handling big projects.

Currently, the wastewater treatment plant is at 75% capacity, added Detrick.

The renovation work on the facility is expected to be completed by the end of 2013.
