People Power, a provider of energy efficiency solutions, has received new patent from the US Patent and Trademark Office for its power usage monitoring system.

The patent covers technology developed by the company that scans and determines actively connected appliances, registers the list of connected appliances to a remote server, and reports power usage on the appliances.

The company’s cloud based energy services platform is an open energy management platform that manages and controls internet-enabled equipment and devices.

People Power CEO Gene Wang said that demand for energy efficiency is skyrocketing as the Internet of Things goes through explosive growth.

"We are pleased to be awarded this broad-based patent which grants People Power ownership of technology that is key to ease-of-use in an end-to-end energy monitoring solution," Wang said.
