As per the deal, PCI Energy will provide engineering, specialty pipe cutting and welding services.

The company will also provide the critical metrology, specialty machining and advanced welding technologies and processes.

Westinghouse said the steam generator replacement is part of the overall refurbishment program at Embalse to extend the plant’s life by an additional 30 years.

The engineering scope of work for the CANDU-6 pressurized heavy water reactor plant is currently underway and the major site activities are anticipated to be implemented in 2014.

Westinghouse vice president of Latin America Carlos Leipner said the company will help NA-SA to ensure that Embalse Nuclear Power Plant continues to generate safe, reliable and clean electricity in Argentina for years to come.
