Pay By Touch has announced that Shell Oil Products has adopted its biometric payment service, which will facilitate customers to pay for purchases with the touch of a finger.

The pilot program launches at 10 Shell gas stations throughout greater Chicago. With successful consumer adoption, the program is slated to be extended to all Shell locations nationwide.

The Pay By Touch system uses a simple finger scan to debit the payment account of the customers’ choice – Shell credit card, Shell gas card, or personal checking account. Using Pay By Touch at the pump or in the Shell station store is more secure because account numbers are not exposed to anyone – not even to the store associate.

Chris Suess, global manager for refueling innovations at Shell Oil Products US, said: We are honored to be the first gasoline retailer to partner with Pay By Touch to speed drivers through the pump and payment process. Together, we will improve drivers’ refueling experience, adding unprecedented convenience and security that ultimately builds loyalty.
