Pakistan will import as much as 750 million cubic feet of gas per day from Iran to meet its rising energy necessities.

The IPI gas pipeline is also known as Peace Pipeline. It is a proposed 2,775-kilometre pipeline to transport natural gas from Iran to Pakistan and India.

The project is anticipated to greatly benefit India and Pakistan, which do not have enough natural gas to meet their quickly growing domestic demand for energy.

The discussions over the project were kicked off in 1994 but there are still some obstacles to closing the three-way deal because of tension between India and Pakistan.
