Mr Wagner will be responsible for the 9.6 million-ton-per year refinery and the corresponding Lo-bau and St Valentin tank farms.

OMV claims the Schwechat refinery to be one of the largest and most modern inland refineries in Europe. The refinery covers an essential part of Austria’s demand for oil products and is deemed crucial to the country’s supply security. Altogether the Schwechat refinery imports and refines crude oil from 15 countries.

Mr Wagner’s career at OMV started right after he finished his chemical studies at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, Germany. In October 1991, he began to work as a chemist in an OMV Deutschland laboratory, and became the head of the Burghausen refinery’s laboratory one year later.
