OMV Norge has received a drilling permit for the well 7324/7-2 from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD), which is located in the Barents Sea.
The company plans to drill the well from the Transocean Barents drilling facility at73°29` 27.09 and 24°14´ 2.56 east.
OMV claimed that the drilling program for well 7324/7-2 relates to the drilling of a wildcat well in production license 537.
With a 25% ownership stake OMV Norge is the operator of the well, while other licensees include Idemitsu Petroleum Norge, Petoro, Tullow and Oil Norge with 20% each, as well as Statoil Petroleum with 15%.
The production license, which had been awarded in the 20th licensing round in 2009, includes blocks 7324/7 and 7324/8, while wildcat well 7324/7-2 will be the third exploration to be drilled in production license 537.
