O2Micro International, a developer of power management and e-commerce components has received a patent from US Patent Office (USPTO) for its voltage detection invention.

The company received 18 claims under US patent number 8,076,959.

O2Micro strategic marketing director Bill Densham said, "This patented invention reduces chip size and power consumption of the voltage detection circuit, compared to conventional designs."

The company said the patent provides an improved over/under voltage protection circuit to asssit operations within a safe voltage range.

Using a voltage-to-current technology, O2Micro’s design creates better noise stability and ensures thermal performance.
