Dutch energy firm Nuon has purchased an industrial estate close to Seneffe in Belgium on which it hopes to build a new gas-fired power plant.

Nuon is investigating the possibility of constructing a modern combined cycle gas turbine power plant on the Belgian site, which covers five hectares.

The company said that it is working on a portfolio of power plants in the country in a bid to offer its Belgian customers a more reliable and competitive product in the long term. With more than 400,000 connections Nuon is already the largest new energy supplier in Belgium, providing gas and electricity for both private consumers and business customers.
