Dutch energy company Nuon has completed the sale of its 50% stake in Cascal to its partner Biwater, following approval by UK authorities.

Nuon and Biwater came to an agreement for the sale of the water company in the summer of 2005. The sale is in line with Nuon’s strategy of focusing on energy activities in its core countries – the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. Nuon acquired its stake in Cascal in April 2000.

Cascal provides drinking water and wastewater services in the UK, Chile, South Africa, Mexico, Indonesia and the Philippines.
