Earlier in 2013, the company has acquired these solar PV projects, each with an installed capacity of 20MW, from Recurrent Energy.

The solar facilities are located in Lancaster, and Kings County.

During the first year of operation, the projects will generate clean electricity, enough to power around 11,800 average US homes annually.

The clean electricity generated at the solar projects will be supplied to Southern California Edison and Pacific Gas & Electric.

Commenting on the projects, Recurrent Energy CEO Arno Harris said that NRG’s investment in these projects demonstrates solar’s ability to attract capital from well-established strategic investors.

NRG Solar president and CEO Tom Doyle said, "This is our first transaction with Recurrent Energy and the beginning of what I hope will be a long lasting business relationship."

Apart from these two projects, NRG has nine solar projects that currently produce clean solar power for thousands of homes and businesses across three US states.
