NRG Residential Solutions will allow residents to choose from plans that emphasize choice, control, rewards and innovation and feature a one-time rebate program, called 2¢ Sundays that can be coupled with enrollment bonuses or cash-back programs for greater rewards.

The plans include Design Your Own Plan, Learn & Conserve Plan comprising the Nest Learning Thermostat, Eagles Fan Plan.

NRG Retail Northeast president James Steffes said nearly 70% local residents are still purchasing power through their utility company despite having an option to choose their retail energy provider for years.

”With NRG Residential Solutions, customers are in the driver’s seat with access to breakthrough energy-saving technologies and tools, such as the Nest Learning Thermostat – as well as innovations still in development, such as the NRG Clean Power Advisor, a smartphone app that will help customers decide when to run their electric appliances to lower their carbon footprint,” Steffes added.

Currently focusing on Philadelphia and its surrounding suburbs, including areas of Southern New Jersey, the company is planning to expand its retail activities throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Massachusetts, the District of Columbia and beyond.
