The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) is planning to develop self-reliant nuclear power industry.

DPRK leader Kim Jong Un was quoted by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) as saying that the country would develop light water reactor in order to ease the strain on its electricity supply.

"The DPRK’s nuclear armed forces represent the nation’s life, which can never be abandoned as long as the imperialists and nuclear threats exist on earth," Jong Un added.

He also noted that the country will speed up the development of space science and technology and more advanced satellites, including communications satellites.

"The DPRK’s possession of nukes should be fixed by law and the nuclear armed forces should be expanded and beefed up qualitatively and quantitatively until the denuclearization of the world is realized," Jong Un added.
