India’s National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) has announced an increase in its profits by 32% growth over the previous year. Power stations operated by the NHPC have generated 9917.20M kWh of energy while the target for 1988/99 was 8520M kWh.
In 1998-99 NHPC will take up the 2051MW Parbati stage-II and 510MW Teesta projects as joint ventures with multinational companies. In the joint ventures for these two projects NHPC hopes to hold about 26% share.
