Nalco, a provider of sustainable services has employed its patented PARETO Mixing Technology to improve Suzano Pulp and Paper's papermaking process by reducing water and chemical use.

Suzano Pulp and Paper’s industrial units are located in the cities of Suzano, Sao Paulo and Mucuri, Bahia in Brazil.

Suzano employed Nalco PARETO mixing technology, which identified a new retention, drainage and formation program to enhance the wet-end of the papermaking process, where high amounts of water and fiber are formed into the paper sheet before it is dried.

The PARETO optimizer solution improves mixing which led to decrease in water and chemical usage.

The total fresh water demand in both mills reduced by more than 79 million gallons per year, thereby improved Suzano’s sustainability performance.

Suzano Pulp and Paper is a provider of forest-based products and services.
