The wind farm will be located on communal farmland known as Ejido El Porvenir, just southeast of Reynosa, and will be equipped with 30 wind turbines, each with a nominal capacity of 1.8MW.

The power project also includes a substation to step up the electricity generated before transferring it to the national grid, as well as a SCADA system for remote monitoring and control.

NADB has authorized a peso loan equivalent to $51m for the project developer Compania Eolica de Tamaulipas, which will also operate the facility.

The electricity generated by the wind farm will be purchased by Mexican retailer Soriana under a long-term agreement.
