Muirhall Energy has secured approval from the Dumfries and Galloway council for the 48MW Crossdykes wind farm.
Councillors on the planning applications committee gave their unanimous backing to the wind farm, even though the decision is subject to the completion of legal agreements.
Situated between Lockerbie and Langholm, the proposed wind farm will feature 15 3.2MW turbines.
The clean power produced at the wind farm will be sufficient to power about 28,400 average British households.
Muirhall Energy estimates that about £30.2m could be invested in the region during the 25 year life time of the project.
Muirhall Energy senior development manager Alastair Yule said: "We are clearly delighted that the councillors voted unanimously to approve our planning application for Crossdykes Wind Farm.
"There was considerable support from a number of community councils for our proposals, as well as from other local groups and organisations, and we would like to thank them for this. Their support was clearly reflected in the decision by councillors."
The project features a contracted grid connection date of October 2018 to tap into a new 33/132kv substation being built for the phase two of Ewe Hill wind farm.
