The Menasha dam in Wisconsin, US, a 70-year-old concrete structure owned and operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), is in the final stages of a two-month, US$850,000 overhaul.

This is the first major renovation of the dam since it was constructed the early 1930s. A key part of the rehabiltation project involved installation of gate hoists on each of the six dam gates that will eventually allow them to be remotely opened and closed from USACE’s Detroit district office.
