THE US STATE OF MASSACHUSETTS' municipal electric companies have asked federal regulators to reconsider a decision allowing New York to halve the amount of cheap hydroelectric power the utilities can buy from two upstate dams.
According to the utilities, the cut from 9.6MW to 4.8MW could cost public power customers over US$500,000 a year if they were forced to buy power from more expensive sources.
