Located in production license 674 BS, the well has been drilled approximately 33km northeast of the discovery well, 16/2-6, on Johan Sverdrup in the central North Sea, and about 100km west of Stavanger.

The well, which was aimed at proving petroleum in reservoir rocks in the Utsira formation, has identified a 24m total gas column in the Utsira formation with enhanced reservoir quality.

Although the Wildcat well 26/10-1 was not formation tested, data acquisition and sampling were performed.

The initial size calculations of the discovery are between 1.5 and 4 billion standard cubic meters (Sm3) of recoverable gas.

Drilled by the Island Innovator, the Wildcat well 26/10-1 is the first exploration well in production license 674 BS.

The company drilled the well, which will now be permanently plugged and abandoned, to a vertical depth of 995m below the sea surface and was terminated in the Hordaland group.
