Argentina's national water resources department has approved a feasibility study for the Los Monos dam project planned for the Chubut province.

Although the project is considered a multi-purpose dam, its main purpose will be to provide irrigation water for the Sarmiento area, as well as flood control on the Senguer river, while the power generation component will be much smaller.

Spanish consulting firm Euroestudios carried out the study. The project is estimated to cost US$20M.
