Under the terms of the agreement, Landsvirkjun will offer up to 10MW power for a period of seven years.
Landsvirkjun CEO Hordur Arnarson said that the PPA with GMR represents a strong addition to its customer base and makes it more diverse, which is a key component of the company’s marketing strategy.
"GMR´s operation is also good for the environment since it enables efficient recycling using renewable energy," added Arnarson.
Expected to be operational in early 2013, GMR’s recycling plant will have an initial capacity of 30,000 tons per annum and will scale up to its optimum capacity of 100,000 tons over a period of time.
