Kimberley Diamonds, mineral resources mining and exploration company, is planning to resume mining at the E9 West Pit at its Ellendale diamond project, in Western Australia.

The E9 pit mining was stopped following a slippage of the pit wall, on 26 June 2013 and required the construction of a buttress, which was completed in November 2013, to allow safe access to the pit.

Currently, production at E9 is underway from the lower grade surface ore stockpiles, which has a resource grade of 2.48 carats per hundred tons.

E9 West Pit has resource grade of 3.49 carats per hundred tons, according to the company.

Meanwhile, the Botswana Competition Authority has approved Kimberley Diamonds for the acquisition of Mantle Diamonds, a UK based diamond mining and exploration company.
