US-based engineering, procurement and construction company, KBR, has won a project management contract from State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), for the front-end engineering and design (FEED) phase of a gas processing plant within the new Oil-Gas Processing and Petrochemical Complex (OGPC) in the country.
The OGPC will consist of a gas processing plant, which is currently in FEED phase and will have a throughput capacity of 10 to12 billion cubic meters per annum and a refinery plant with a capacity of 10 million tonnes per annum.
Oil products produced will be used as strategic domestic assets, whereas the petrochemical plant will be set up for export market.
SOCAR’s OGPC is expected to become operational in late 2020, while the FEED phase of the gas processing plant is likely to be completed in October 2013.
