US-based industrial parts distributor Kaman announced that its Distribution Segment (Kaman) has signed an agreement to acquire all the assets of Ohio Gear & Transmission.

Ohio Gear & Transmission is a US-based distributor and engineer of Drive and Control Systems within the Power Transmission industry.

It provides mechanical power transmission equipment, bearings and electric automation systems and fabricator gearing products.

The acquisition is expected to close by the end of July and Ohio Gear & Transmission will become part of Kaman’s Distribution segment.

According to Kaman, the acquisition will provide the company an oppurtunity to enter into a new region, the Cleveland market.

Kaman chief executive officer, chairman and president Neal J Keating said the acquisition will help the company meet many strategic objectives for its distribution segment.

"It enables us to expand our geographic footprint into a major industrial market, increases our service capabilities and strengthens our core bearings and power transmission product platform," Keating added.
