Jindal Steel and Power (JSPL) has launched the 810MW captive power plant of the 6 MTPA Steel Project at Angul Unit in Odisha, India.

Located in Dongamauha of Raigarh district in Chhattisgarh, the 540-Mw captive power plant comprises four units of 135-Mw each, according to Business Standard.

Haryana Government Minister and JSPL Chairperson Savitri Jindal said that the new steel plant has been integrated with very environment friendly new technology by JSPL.

"The Coal Gasification-DRI route will be the first of its kind in the world," Jindal added.

The captive power plant output will be transferred to the JSPL’s steel facility located in Raigarh.

JSPL chairman Naveen Jindal said, "The Coal Gasifiers of the coal gasification plant are working very well and soon we will start producing sponge iron, using synthesis gas from the CGP."
