The company received a proposed decision and order from IUB chair Libby Jacobs, which also approved establishment of ratemaking principles for MGS, an 600MW, combined-cycle natural gas facility planned for construction in Marshalltown, Iowa, US.

Alliant Energy Iowa utility company president Tom Aller said the order supports the need for MGS and that its construction would benefit the customers for years to come.

”We are currently evaluating the details of today’s order,”

Alliant Energy is currently in the process of attaining other state and federal permitting approvals that are necessary for construction and operation of the MGS.

The construction and start up of the facility is expected to commence in 2014 and 2017, respectively, pending all regulatory approvals.
