As part of the contract Itron will install its OpenWay Riva IoT solution along with 55,000 Intelis ultrasonic water meters in the water distribution system. This system is claimed to be the first-of-its-kind smart water network in Australia which can reduce excessive wastage of water.
CRC says that it will give its customers access to the Itron’s data, which can help them know about their water usage, while also detecting any leakages. This can help consumers in reducing unnecessary water wastage and can inculcate water conservation.
According to Itron, by combining accurate, robust metering technology and high-performance network can help unlock new capabilities for the Cairns Regional Council. Itron’s OpenWay Riva solution features a unified, secure and multi-purpose network for smart water applications. The system can allow for smart water meters, network devices and distributed assets can communicate and interact throughout the network.
