Petropars managing director Mohammad Javad Shams was quoted by FARS News agency as saying: "Over 96 percent of Phase 12 refinery has been completed and it will begin functioning soon."

Petropars is developing the gas field.

Shared by Iran and Qatar, the Phase 12 of South Pars is considered to be the largest phase in the major gas reservoir and is due to produce at least 500 mcf/d of gas before the cold season commences injection into national pipeline.

The company plans to deliver one billion cubic feet a day of sour gas, from 12 wells, to the onshore refinery.

Currently, the steam production, air compressors and gas receiving units are now operational while other sections including water desalination and wastewater treatment units will soon enter service.

The Phase 12 of South Pars gas field is expected to produce 75 million cubic meters (mcm) of rich gas to national gas pipeline and liquefied natural gas (LNG) production plants.

Petropars is the main contractor of Phase 12 development of South Pars.
