Iran is planning to launch six new petrochemical plants by mid-March 2015, the National Petrochemical Company director for production control Ali Mohammad Bosagh-Zadeh said.

Islamic Republic News Agency cited Bosagh-Zadeh as saying that the commencement of the South Pars Gas Field new phase is expected to help the operation of new petrochemical units.

Iran’s petrochemical output and polymer production have currently crossed 60 million tons annually with a new petrochemical plant in western Iran going on line, according to Iran Daily.

Iran will commission the second phase of Kavian Petrochemical Complex and Karoun Petrochemical Complex’s development plan in Iran’s southern province of Bushehr, and petrochemical complexes in Lorestan, Kurdestan, Takht-e Jamshid and Mahabad by March 2015, Bosagh-Zadeh said.

By mid-March, approximately 2 million tons of petrochemical products will be added to the products.

Bosagh-Zadeh said: "In case Kavian Petrochemical Complex becomes operational, it will provide the feedstock of petrochemical plans through the West Ethylene Pipeline."
