Invenergy Wind has closed an agreement with wind developer 3Ci to acquire the Des Moulins wind energy project in Quebec, Canada.
The power project consists of ENERCON E-82 2.3MW wind turbine generators, and is located in the municipalities of Kinnear’s Mills, St-Jean-de-Brebeuf and Thetford Mines.
The 156MW Des Moulins facility is expected to start commercial operation in 2013, and will produce enough clean, renewable energy to power approximately 50,000 homes.
The electricity generated by the wind facility will be sold to Hydro-Quebec under a 20-year power supply contract.
Des Moulins will connect to a 230kV power transmission line of the Hydro-Quebec TransEnergie transmission grid at a substation located near the power line.
