US-based engineering and geospatial software provider Intergraph has launched a new software solution called SmartPlant Fusion.

The new solution has been developed to help plant operators and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) companies to better organize, manage and access vital unstructured legacy engineering information of an operating plant.

Critical data related to the engineering projects, turnarounds, equipment changes, plant acquisitions and other details are stored in multiple formats to help the operators and EPC companies in making decisions.

The SmartPlant Fusion software gathers information from all the formats and automatically extracts vital data and assembles it in an organized plant record that can be easily accessed through an intuitive photo-realistic web portal.

Using the solution, the "as-is" repository can filtered of duplicates and highlight only the relevant and master information.

In addition, inconsistent tag naming and numbering of different engineering projects can be "aliased" and harmonized.

Intergraph Process, Power & Marine Global Business Development and Marketing executive vice president Patrick Holcomb said the company through its SmartPlant Fusion has entered the brownfield legacy information acquisition and it also extends the data management capabilities for greenfield projects.

"This new solution leverages technology from Intergraph’s SmartPlant Foundation and Leica Geosystems’ TruView™ Integrator for SmartPlant Enterprise to provide owner operators with a unique direct comparison between the ‘as-is’ information and ‘as-exists’ condition of a plant," Holcomb added.

"It provides a quick and easy starting point of the evolution of unstructured content, enabling owner operators and engineers to extract tremendous value from legacy information, and allowing them to verify the operating configuration of the plant, at a much lower cost than ever before possible."
