A contract for the refurbishment of the generator
(unit 4) at the NIHUIL-I hydro power plant in Mendoza Province, Argentina, has been signed by IMPSA Hydro.
The work to be undertaken will include the design, manufacture and erection of a new stator, which will replace the existing one.
The work began in March 2000 and has to be completed by October 2000. According to IMPSA, completing the work within seven months will be a record amount of time for this kind of work.
The present capacity of the units is 23.2MVA. After refurbishment, the capacity will be 27MVA, 17% higher than the original power capacity.
