According to IME, the device can capture more CO2 from the air than a tree about the same size, which can be used in industrial processes or safely stored underground, reports Reuters.

IME also said that CO2 air capture devices can be released at less cost and at a smaller scale than other climate change mitigating technologies such as carbon capture and storage.

IME head of environment Tim Fox said that along with dealing with difficult-to-manage emissions, the technology could also be a vital tool for setting a definitive price for CO2.
