The materials for the containment vessels will be fabricated at IHI Yokohama No.1 works in Yokohama, Japan, and will be shipped to CB&I at a US port of entry. The two steel containment vessels, each more than 40 meters in diameter, over 66 meters high, and around 4,000 tons in weight, are an important component of Westinghouse AP1000 advanced PWR type nuclear power plants.
Currently, many new nuclear power plant units have been announced not only in US, but also Asia and Europe. IHI is capitalizing on its extensive experience to aggressively pursue new nuclear projects both in US market and internationally for supply various equipment for these new nuclear power plants.
