Alternate Energy Holdings (AEHI) said the Payette County Board of Commissioners has rejected appeals that were filed in opposition to AEHI's plan to build a nuclear power plant in Idaho.

The board unanimously agreed that earlier decisions from Planning and Zoning were made correctly and therefore unanimously denied the appeals.

AEHI is working through the local approval process in Payette County to build a large-scale nuclear power plant.

The project is expected to employ up to 5,000 people during construction following federal approval, and more than 1,000 during operations.

AEHI CEO Don Gillispie said that the company looks forward to a hearing before County Commissioners, which is needed to receive final local approval.
