Swedish foodservice unit ICA Menyforetagen has signed a E173 million deal to extend its contact to supply the filling stations of local operator Statoil Detaljhandel with snacks and groceries.

ICA Meny, the leading supplier to convenience stores in Sweden and Norway, will supply food and drink to Statoil’s Swedish service stations under the contract which runs until 2008.

ICA Meny is a wholly-owned subsidiary of ICA, although it is to be sold to private equity group Nordic Capital subject to approval from the European Commission. Dutch food group Royal Ahold owns 60% of ICA with ICA Forbundet holding the remainder.

Statoil Detaljhandel is part of the Norwegian group Statoil ASA, and operates around 600 sales points in Sweden under the brands Statoil, ICA Express and 1-2-3.
