Hyde Marine, a subsidiary of US-based Calgon Carbon, has won three contracts to supply a total of 13 Hyde GUARDIAN Ballast Water Treatment (BWT) systems for use on various vessels.

The chemical free Hyde GUARDIAN BWT process uses filtration and ultraviolet disinfection to treat ships ballast water to prevent the spread of invasive species from port to port.

Hyde Marine has been selected by the Zhejiang Ouhua Shipbuilding, located in Zhoushan, for the supply of eight multi-purpose vessels for the China Navigation, the deep sea shipping arm of John Swire & Sons.

The Hyde GUARDIAN systems for the China Navigation vessels will have a treatment capacity of 500 cubic meter per hour and will be delivered for installation beginning in April 2012.

Separately, Hai Cheung Trading, Hyde Marine’s Distributor in the Chinese market, will supply Hyde Model HG300 systems for the Taizhou Kouan Shipbuilding.

The units, which will have a treatment capacity of 300 cubic meter per hour, will be installed on three 1100TEU container vessels for the Norwest Shipping Agencies.

The Hyde GUARDIAN systems are scheduled for delivery beginning in September 2011.

Hai Cheung Trading will also deliver two Hyde GUARDIAN Model HG100 systems for Guangzhou Huangpu Shipbuilding.

The Hyde GUARDIAN systems will have a treatment capacity of 100 cubic meter per hour and delivery is expected to begin in January 2012.
