High energy prices in the UK could be the catalyst to spark the UK solar power sector into life, industry insiders are hoping.

According to a report from uSwitch, the UK solar energy market has yet to gather any significant pace and lags a long way behind continental counterparts such as Germany.

However, with conventional power prices in the UK at all-time highs, and with more increases seeming just around the corner, those from the UK solar industry arena are hoping British end users will now turn to the green energy option.

Despite this, solar power advocates still believe more needs to be done to encourage the take-up of solar power facilities. According to Stephen Temple from ENF: Red tape needs to be slashed, there is still some ground to make up on the incentives and the local distribution industry needs better scale economies.
