LineIQ allows the utilities to leverage their substations’ existing communications networks, whether cellular, WiFi, or wireless networks and is compatible with multiple options, this has been quoted as the reason for the utilities opting for GridSense’s technology.

GridSense Sales Manager Brandy Henson that LineIQ’s self-powered mechanism, multiple communications options and advanced sensing capabilities is capable identifying issues before they result in outages.

"In unmonitored substations, the industry needs the smart grid benefit of practicing preventive maintenance instead of reactive repair," Henson added.

LineIQ, developed by Acorn Energy subsidiary Gridsense, assists utilities eliminating the cost of metering thereby making it a cost-effective mechanism to prevent outages.
