The grant, which will be available under the California Energy Commission’s Public Interest Energy Research (PIER) program, will raise the company’s working capital to $1.2m. The amount will support development and testing of a prototype system before 2014.
GridCOM founder and CTO Duncan Earl said, "This grant shows there is validity to GridCOM’s unhackable encryption technology.
"GridCOM can help utilities quickly, inexpensively and effectively defend against cyber attacks, which could cost billions of dollars and endanger the lives of millions of people." Earl added.
