GIB will offer £1.1m to finance the £3.1m energy efficiency project, which has leveraged another £1.1m of private sector investment from the Aviva Investors REaLM Infrastructure Fund.

The financing will be used in the installation of a 1.3MW combined heat and power at the hospital.

This project is anticipated to lower the trust’s greenhouse gas emissions by 30%, as well as reduce energy costs by 40%.

GIB has created the Health Sector Energy Efficiency Financing Programme to help trusts and health boards finance energy efficiency measures, as NHS is aimed at lowering energy use.

The energy efficiency measures are anticipated to lower energy bills by up to 20% by saving £150m annually.
