Under contracts totaling more than $40m, GE will provide a 207D-11 steam turbine, maintenance services and spare parts for the project.

The steam turbine will join three gas turbines operating at the site, bringing the total capacity to approximately 850MW.

Posco Engineering and Construction is the lead contractor for the combined-cycle project, which will use natural gas from the Camisea gas pipeline near the site.

Converting the Kallpa plant to combined-cycle operation is expected to increase the site’s output by 280MW.

The GE 207D-11 steam turbine is expected to be shipped in the first quarter of 2011 with commercial operation expected by the first quarter of 2012.
