The Intelligent Pipeline Solution features GE’s pipeline management solution and Accenture’s digital technology and systems integration capabilities.
In order to help make safer decisions to avoid failures and costly downtime, the solution will give faster access to critical information for customers.
Initially, Columbia Pipeline will deploy the technology throughout its network of 15,000 miles of interstate natural gas pipelines. Around $40bn per year is being invested by pipeline firms to expand, maintain and modernize the current infrastructure.
GE measurement and control president and CEO Brian Palmer said: "Pipeline management helps customers proactively make the right decisions at the right time to keep their assets safe.
