Russian gas major Gazprom has secured an extended agreement to transport its gas through the territories of Bulgaria, following a successful meeting between Gazprom's chairman and Bulgaria's prime minister and minister of economy and energy.

The parties signed a set of documents to further develop their cooperation in the Russian natural gas supply and transit sector, Gazprom has reported in a statement.

The documents stipulate extending Russian gas transportation contracts up to 2030 via the territory of Bulgaria to Turkey, Greece and Macedonia. The volume of gas to be transported via Bulgaria during the stipulated period will be 17.8bcm annually.

The parties also expressed their keenness to study the possibility of developing other projects for joint gas transportation via the territory of Bulgaria including the southern corridor to the countries of central Europe.
