The single application to develop two offshore wind farms with an installed capacity of up to 1.2GW each follows nearly four years of offshore and onshore surveys and research work, reporting and stakeholder consultation.

Forewind’s new application is for Dogger Bank Teesside A, which is 560km² and 196km from shore at its closest point, and Dogger Bank Teesside B, which is 593km² and is 165km from shore at its closest point.

Both will connect into the national grid at a substation in Redcar and Cleveland, Teesside.

The Planning Inspectorate will announce its decision in a month’s time on whether to move the proposal into the pre-examination phase.

Forewind’s latest application marks the second development consent order application submitted for the Dogger Bank Zone. The first application was submitted for the 2.4 GW Dogger Bank Creyke Beck project which is currently in the formal examination phase.
