This arrangement requires Balqon to provide 10 of its XE20 30 ton capacity electric yard tractors to T&K Logistics, the provider of logistics services to Ford Motor Company and manager of on-site transportation of trailers and containers at the Wayne Facility.
The electric tractors from Balqon are equipped with lithium ion batteries and are designed to be charged by solar panels that are mounted on the rooftop of this automotive assembly plant.
Balqon president and CEO Balwinder Samra said that Ford Motor is a leader in the introduction and implementation of clean technologies throughout their manufacturing process and Balqon electric tractors can provide additional reductions in the carbon footprint of the manufacturing plant.
