Fluor was awarded the turnkey EPC order for the 125MW project in October 2011 and later received a follow-on order to provide operations and maintenance services for an additional five-year period.

The company’s engineers in Irvine, California office were responsible for the design of the facility that include installing 600,000 solar PV panels and laying six million feet of cable.

Located in Maricopa County, around 40 miles west of Phoenix, the plant will sell its output to San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) as per a long-term power purchase agreement.

The plant, which is spread across 1,160 acres, was completed for Arlington Valley Solar Energy II (AVSE II), a member of LS Power Group.

Fluor Power business senior vice president Matt McSorley said the project has achieved completion due the close cooperation between its project execution team, LS Power and other stakeholders.

"We’re proud of the hard work of our engineering and construction teams, and we look forward to providing operations and maintenance services at the AVSE II facility," McSorley added.

LS Power executive vice president John King said Fluor has completed the plant’s construction ahead of the stipulated time.
