The company will invest in projects including transmission enhancements, new distribution lines, and inspection and replacement of utility poles and other equipment.

Also included in the investment plan are a new 138kV transmission line to support the natural gas industry and a new eight-mile transmission line connecting substations in Oak Mound and Waldo Run.

Around $97m will be used for transmission-related projects which are owned by the Trans-Allegheny Interstate Line (TrAILCo), a FirstEnergy transmission affiliate.

FirstEnergy West Virginia operations president Holly Kauffman said: "Each year we carefully review and plan transmission and distribution projects that will enhance service to our customers while also preparing our system for future load growth.

"In addition to new infrastructure projects, we also place great emphasis on equipment inspections to help reduce the number of outages our customers might experience."
