International oil and gas company Exxon Mobil has appointed Alan Kelly as the new president of ExxonMobil Lubricants & Petroleum Specialties Company and elected him as vice president of the corporation, effective December 1, 2007. He will succeed Jerry Kohlenberger, who will retire on January 31, 2008.

Mr Kelly began his career with the company in 1981. He held a variety of positions in the UK, the Netherlands, Japan and the US, working in areas including the company’s fuels and lubricants marketing activities, and refinery logistics and supply operations. In 2001, he was appointed regional director of North America at ExxonMobil Lubricants & Petroleum Specialties Company (ELPS).

Mr Kelly became general manager of corporate planning at Exxon Mobil in 2003. In 2006, he commenced a special assignment as project director of the National Petroleum Council’s Global Oil and Gas Study, commissioned by the US Department of Energy.
